HELLO AND HAPPY ALMOST BIRTHDAY TO US! Ally and I turn 18 in three days. THREE DAYS! Holy cow, January flew by SO fast! Crazytown. So fast that doing any sort of Birthday Chronicles completely flew over my head, you can check out previous ones here though! I have been so busy, with all these snow days and what not, ugh sledding and drinking hot chocolate is SUCH a burden...

It's really sad to think that this is our last birthday together :( Maybe I'll have to go up to where ever the little A-Pop ends up to surprise her :)

I've got some big birthday plans under wraps which I'll share soon!!! <3 love yaaa

dress- Urban Outfitters // sweater- Forever 21 // shoes- Old Navy // hat- Target // necklace- handmade

I realize that in that last photo I look possessed but I thought it was cool with Carly. Anyway, hello my little snow angels!! Today is a snow day beyond ALL SNOW DAYS! We are supposed to get something wild like 28 inches of snow. TWENTY EIGHT! THAT'S OVER TWO FEET! WHAT THE HECK!? This is SO new for Richmond and I'm LOVING it! It started snowing this morning, obviously school was cancelled, but it hasn't stopped since around 10am! Crazytown! I spent most of the day snuggled up, however I did test my hand at sledding a few times, all sadly failed, but I had a lot of fun :)

Not much to say about this outfit except that black and white is my favorite color combination and this is my favorite sweater at the moment. This is easily one of my good "go-to" outfits. Maybe not for this weather though, who am I kidding, I was flopping freezing my tail off out there! More snow photos coming soon!! <3

Hi, I'm Olivia

Hi, I'm Olivia

Hi, I’m Olivia, and I’m a size 4, comfortably a size 6. Growing up I was always this super duper skinny lanky kid, I was always the tiniest. When I was in fourth grade we were having what I guess what you could call an “in school physical” a doctor came in and took our weight, height, blood pressure, and all that jazz. I was waiting in line with my best friend at the time, Caroline. She too was somewhat of a stick bug. We were messing around and goofing off, she went before me and was marked down for 48 pounds. To my knowledge, the last time I checked, which wasn’t often, and if I ever did check it was just for my curiosity, I was around 45 pounds. The woman told me I was 4’11 and 50 pounds. She announced it loud enough for the entire line to hear. I was 50 pounds. This was the first time in my entire life I was horrified about the reality of my weight, and extremely self-conscious of my body. I broke 50 pounds! That’s almost 60 which is basically 70 which means I was just shy of 100 pounds! Now of course, as I’m recalling this memory, 50 pounds is literally NOTHING but just go with it, this is fourth grade me talking… I was absolutely mortified.
I’ve grown up with an incredibly stunning sister and a mom who practically used to be a super model, her sister was a model as well, and so was my dads sister, it wouldn’t be far fetched to say that there is definitely a standard of beauty in my family that comes with a pressure to uphold it. When I learned that day that I was 50 pounds I felt like I let everyone down. I was no longer this little waif, fairy, pixie creature that was cute and beautiful, I was 50 pounds. Days went by, months went by, and years went by where I accepted that my sister Emma was the beautiful, intelligent one, Saunders, my brother, was the talented, not only athlete but also artist and a genius, and I was just Olivia. I didn’t really have a lot to offer.
But then freshman year rolled around and I was sitting in school with my best friend Ally, while she showed me all these incredible blogs she followed. I was so completely fixed on how cool the idea of sharing your life and passions through the platform of media was. So I created my own blog. I wasn’t really sure what I would blog about at first, so I used our family trip to San Francisco as a launching point, thinking I’d be a travel blogger, when really I don’t get out much at all. I thought about being an advice blog, giving people the Do’s and Don’ts of life, high school, love and what not, but I was 14, had yet to really experience high school, love was a great big question mark, and to me, livin’ was sitting in my bed in the dark eating lucky charms while my mom thought I was asleep, so giving genuine advice was off the table. I was awful at beauty, and couldn’t afford nice enough make up for the life of me, so showing people how to master the impossible art of contouring and false eyelashes was also a no. But the one thing I did somewhat have an eye for (or so I like to believe) is fashion. I loved being in front of the camera and yapping on and on and on about clothes, so this was the PERFECT outlet for me to express myself.
Fashion blogging turned to be a beautiful toxic thing. Of course I followed other fashion blogs, which made it hard to accept the reality that there were so many better bloggers out there, girls who were skinnier, prettier, richer, better with words, more eloquent, had better photographers, made me feel like I wasn’t good enough. I tried to tell myself the numbers don’t matter, bloggers I followed would get hundreds of comments, their instagram posts would rack up thousands of likes and millions of followers, the dresses they wore were only sold in zeros and twos, they got money for every post, and a lot of it. I got zero comments, a few likes, only followers who were my friends or family, shopped at Forever 21 and thrift stores wearing sizes people are for some reason embarrassed to share, and never got any money. Once again, I was on the 50 pound end of the stick. Feeling like I’ve disappointed people. I took a bit of a hiatus from blogging for a while and just got trapped in an even darker hole; I no longer had an outlet where I could express myself and my interests. And then it hit me. I don’t blog to show off expensive clothes, or nonexistent modeling skills, I blog because I love myself.

I love being in front of the camera, showing off my body that is healthy and happy and full of life. I love talking about myself and my passions. Then the idea of natural beauty comes up. Talking about yourself so much sounds so vain and crude, wearing so much makeup and sharing about everything you do feels unreal and not genuine. But heres my two cents for you, Find what makes you special, be selfish and do things for yourself, try to forget the haters and dig as deeeeeep as you can to find what makes you YOU and not the person others want you to be, be who you were born to be. Natural beauty is something they try to advertise and sell in magazines, but it can't be bought, you need to find it yourself. And you WILL, there WILL come a time where you will be powerful and rule your own world, and love every moment of it. Once you love yourself, and find what makes you beautiful (in your OWN eyes) it’s that much easier to love those in the world around you. Sometimes you’ll hear guys be like, “Ohh I’m gunna take her swimming or to the river on the first date so I can see her with no makeup and like raw, natural beauty, yeah man” But I’m sorry no, this makeup, this hard work and talent that is on my face right here took time, and I feel beautiful with it on. There is no way I am ever going to let some guy make me feel any less. If you feel beautiful shaving off all your hair and tattooing stars on your head because it makes you feel like a shooting star in your heart, do it. If you want to do full on mime makeup because you think it expresses your inner feelings and makes you feel like a queen, girl do it! Do what ever makes you happy and confident and feel like your wholesome self, and don’t ever let someone with more followers, more money, or whatever, get you down. Because you are incredibly beautiful no matter if you’re 50 pounds or just shy of 300, learn to love yourself because that is the most important knowledge you will ever gain.

Snuggle Up

Snuggle Up

This weekend I woke up to an incredible winter wonderland, snow everywhere, finally! Naturally, since I wasn't going to be going anywhere, I haaaddddd to make a fort. I spent most of my time this weekend snuggled up in here either reading, eating breakfast food, or on tumblr, all good things, all good things.
I started by piling lots of pillows and blankets for ultimate comfort
The outside scaffolding looks super funny but the inside is the ultimate cozy cave :)
Stay warm!! :)

Hope you have an absolutely fantastic and incredible day! I love you so SO much! <3 <3 <3

Happy Saturday! In honor of my blogs (very belated) fourth birthday, I celebrated by making some vegan funfetti cupcakes! All Those Little Things turned four on December 30th. I can't believe I've already been blogging for four whole years. To me that's ridiculously wild!

Anyway, these cupcakes are SO easy to make and SO SO good! On my birthday, I was always the kid with the super cool mom who'd arrive to school midday with a huge platter of crazy awesome cupcakes to share with my homeroom. She's the real master of making fun and incredible cupcakes, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
You will need:
  • 1 cup non-dairy milk + 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) vegan butter (such as Earth Balance), softened
  • scant 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup rainbow sprinkles* + more for topping
Here's how to do it:
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a standard muffin holder with 12 paper liners.
In a liquid measuring cup, measure out non-dairy milk and add vinegar or lemon juice. Let set to curdle/activate.
  • Add softened butter to a large mixing bowl and cream with a mixer. Then add sugar and vanilla and beat until combined and fluffy - about 2 minutes.
  • Add dry ingredients (omitting sprinkles) to a sifter in this order: 1 cup flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and then remaining 1/2 cup flour.
  • Sift over butter/sugar mixture alternating with the almond milk mixture. Blend until until well incorporated and no large lumps remain.
  • Add sprinkles and gently fold/stir with a rubber spatula or mixing spoon.
  • Divide evenly among cupcake holders making sure NOT to overfill. These do best at 3/4 of the way up.
  • Bake on a center rack at 350 for 20-24 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. They will only have a very, very slight golden brown color.
  • Let cool completely on a cooling rack.
  • Once cooled, frost cupcakes and top with sprinkles. Serve immediately. Store leftovers covered at room temperature or refrigerated.
Happy Birthday All Those Little Things!! <3

2016 2016 2016!!

2016 2016 2016!!

Hello! I know it's not New Years Eve or anything, but it's never too late to share some resolutions right? So I thought I'd share an update from last years resolutions and then set some new ones.

Click here to view the ones from last year. And the ones I actually accomplished are: Journal every night, pay more attention and really strive for excellence in school, sing often, love everyone to the fullest yet also be selfish...put myself first, and care for myself. I want to always be healthy and in good peace with myself, at all times.

And then I did a bucket list for 2015: the pink ones are ones I actually accomplished. And even though I didn't check everything off I'm super proud of all that I did!!

1. Go to New York and meet bloggers this summer
2. Bike to Williamsburg
3. Drink Hot Chocolate from every coffee shop in RVA on a search for the best coco around
4. Go to a Lana Del Rey and another Avett Brothers concert
5. Master the art of the Mug Cake The mug cake is dead. They are so gross. RIP Mug cakes
6. Go out of the country
7. Get a job
8. Tube down the James River with my best friends
9. Make homemade pasta
10. Go to a music festival
11. Apply and get into the college of my dreams!
12. Go on a roadtrip with my best friends
13. Visit Mimi in Dallas and Visit Uncle JJ in Portland
14. Meet someone famous
15. Ride rollercoasters
16. Zipline (!!!)
17. Stargaze in the back of a truck with a bunch of pillows and blankets (hehe)
18. Get another piercing
19. Go to Madame Tusades!!! Seriously I've always wanted to go but never have... It'll be so creepy, I can't wait!
20. Perfect my chocolate chip cookie recipe and find the best way to make the best cookies, ever.
21. Do lots of art projects, especially the ones I never got around to doing, but had ideas for // finish old art projects

Okay so I really didn't do much off of this, but 2015 was SUCH an incredible year. I wouldn't change ANYTHING about it :)
And now let's talk about 2016. So unlike last year, I'm not going to make a huge list of resolutions telling me to run and get a bikini bod because I'm so incredibly happy with my body. I'm not going to beat myself up when I don't eat healthy every single day because I LOVE cake and cookies and no, I will not stop eating all the gluten in the world because bread is my best friend. No more negativity, this year I'm going to make some promises to myself, some nonresolution-resolutions. Here we go:
I promise to drive fast with the windows down in a car full of my best friends on the sunny days, and on the rainy days, cuddle up with the ones I love and watch scary movies even though I know I'll be totally spooked, it'll be alright when I'm wrapped up in blankets and the arms of another.
I promise to star gaze and laugh and dance and sing in places where I feel like queen of the world. Promise to take photos of people when they aren't looking and the lighting is just right so I can capture the essence of a perfect moment with a friend. I'll wear all of my favorite clothes and colors and feel fabulous in them because I know that the body under that fabric is healthy and confident in who I am. More time will be spent telling people how much I like and appreciate them because everyone needs to hear that. I will listen to rap, bluegrass, power ballads and everything in between, because any music that makes you happy is good music. So maybe I wont run faster and further, or loose weight and make a bunch of money and become a super celebrity, but I will soak up all the good times and work through bad ones, I will be happy as a clam and feel full of life at all times.

What will you do?

hat, dress + necklace- Forever 21 // shoes- Hidden Fashion

Hello Hello! Just wanted to quickly share some photos from the weekend! How awesome is this hat? I FINALLY got another wide brimmed hat other than my simple black one! Woohoo! Life is good. I honestly don't remember if I have posted photos of this dress before, but sorry not sorry if I have, I'm cleaning out my closet and giving away a BUNCH of stuff. Starting 2016 fresh. Out with the old, in with the new, and holding on to all the fabulous things in between. This dress is soooorrrtaa new, I've had it since the fall but don't wear it that often. I LOVE it though! Apparently, bell sleeves are supposedly going to be huge in 2016, so I guess I'm a head of the game? Go me!

I've got a bunch of new posts and ideas coming soon, so get excited!!!! Hope y'all have a good rest of your week :) xo
